Dinolift is a Finnish manufacturer of high-quality, lightweight DINO mobile elevating work platforms that enable safe, efficient and sustainable work at height. Based in Loimaa with 170 employees, the company serves customers worldwide.
When Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, Dinolift’s second-generation owner and board member Karin Godenhielm wanted to help the Ukrainians. “At first we made straightforward financial donations, but we soon realised that concrete action is more meaningful not only to those receiving help but also to us at Dinolift.”

Solidarity in hardship
A couple of years ago, Dinolift employees welded more than 50 heating stoves that were delivered to Ukraine. “I saw how deeply meaningful the project was for our team,” Karin recalls. “It wasn’t just producing equipment – it gave people a sense of purpose and agency.”
This summer, after hearing journalist Magnus Londen speak on the radio about Caravan to Ukraine, Karin felt it was the right time to re-engage. “The past few years have been challenging for our company amid broader economic uncertainty, especially in construction markets. In the middle of all this, you need purpose to keep going. Doing good together is a brilliant way to gain positive energy.” Dinolift decided to participate.
Karin and her Dinolift colleague, Petri Makkonen, drove to Ukraine in early October 2025 with other volunteers. They delivered a car bought by funds donated by Dinolift – together with a large card signed by the Dinolift team.
Why it matters
For Karin, three lessons stand out:
- Meaning at work: “Helping others creates positivity. When times are tough, doing good and helping others has positive impact in the workplace.”
- Concrete actions over helplessness: “None of us can end the war, but taking concrete actions will make a difference and will empower us as individuals.”
- Efficiency: “Caravan to Ukraine is a highly effective way to use donated resources. You know exactly where the help goes – directly to the people who need it. Your impact is concrete and visible.”
“We all need positive things to hold on to,” Karin concludes. “This Caravan gives us that – both as individuals and as a community.”
